The Buzzontheburgh first reported last month that Marc Andre Fleury is seeking a long term extension and talks are expected to begin in August. The Penguins do not want to go into the season with the possbility of Fleury being eligible for arbitration. Both sides did touch base about an extension following the 1st round loss. What remains to be seen is what kind of commitment the Penguins are willing to make. Some in the organization want to see how he plays this season and go from their while others believe Shero will make a mistake financially if he doesn’t lock up Fleury this summer. A good source has revealed to me that Fleury’s representatives are keeping a close eye on what Henrik Lundqvists receives. Fleury is believed to be willing to take less money now than going into next season without a extension. Fleury is seeking a 4 year deal worth 4 million per season.
