FLYERS, STREIT AGREE TO DEAL
The Philadelphia Flyers have made their first big move of the off-season, agreeing to a 4 year worth $21 million with defenseman Mark Streit, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger. The deal carries an AAV of $5.25 million and with Streit being 35 years old, all four years will count against the cap were Streit to retire.

Philadelphia is taking a high cap hit for an aging offensive defenseman but one thing to keep in mind is that teams expect the cap to rise to $66-$67 million range in 2014-2015 and likely get back to $70 million by 2015-2016.
Philadelphia is paying the going rate in what is a very weak year for puck moving defensemen. The Flyers are expected to buy-out Ilya Bryzgalov and Daniel Briere prior to free agency on July 5th.
