Kevin Allen of the USA Today ran an original six fantasy draft using today’s players.
The panel of six former NHL players, coaches and general managers were – Craig Button (Boston Bruins), Eddie Olczyk (Chicago Blackhawks), Doug MacLean (Detroit Red Wings), Pierre McGuire (Montreal Canadiens), Tom Laidlaw (New York Rangers) and Neil Smith (Toronto Maple Leafs) —
Four Penguins were picked: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc Andre Fleury and Kris Letang.
A sign of how far Sidney Crosby’s stock has fallen in the eyes of these former coaches/GM’s – Crosby was not drafted until round three at 14th overall. Six centers were picked ahead of Crosby – Connor McDavid, Jonathan Toews, John Tavares, Tyler Seguin, Patrice Bergeron, Claude Giroux –
When it comes to McDavid, Toews, Tavares, Seguin and Bergeron, it’s hard to make a case for Crosby.
Evgeni Malkin was selected in round 4 at 19th overall.
Marc Andre Fleury was selected in round 20. Kris Letang was selected in round 23, the fourth to last player to be selected.
LOL, and lets put a bunch of stock into a fantasy draft where somehow the guy drafting for Detroit was really paying attention while the guy drafting for Chicago was clearly asleep lol… can you imagine a guy as thick as the Chicago drafter ever being say a head coach… Imagine how much he would suck.
Speaking of head coaches, what happened to MT? Montreal fans are screaming for his head right now. Apparently it was Price all along lol.
Leave it to Eddie O to pick a Chicago team that is actually arguably worse than how they are currently structured HAHA
Crime that anyone other than Malkin was chosen.
if hockey went to 6 teams i bet we wouldn’t see neutral zone traps any longer.
Maybe they should just go down to one team.
Really hurting for content.
um, who cares?
