Friday Practice Report
Southpointe — The Pittsburgh Penguins begin a six game homestand Saturday afternoon against the Philadelphia Flyers and the team will begin their home-stand without Evgeni Malkin, who will miss his third straight game.
Malkin who remains bothered by a right foot injury, attemped to participate in today’s practice but left the ice after about 10 minutes. Malkin is still skating with some discomfort as he skated line rushes with Eric Godard on the 5th line.

Malkin is also not expected to play Sunday evening against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Meanwhile, Sergei Gonchar’s status is also up in the air against Philadelphia. Gonchar remains sidelined with an illness and did not practice today and was not at the facility.
Gonchar’s status won’t be known until tomorrow morning, according to team officials. The flu bug has been going around as Brent Johnson was also excused from practice due to an illness.
With Gonchar not practicing, Pittsburgh’s pairings were Orpik-Letang, Eaton-Leopold, and Goligoski-McKee.
