*The Edmonton Oilers are showing a renewed interest in future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr, who is in Russia right now.
Oilers assistant coach Tom Renney told Newsday’s Steve Zipay via twitter, “He’s on our radar. He’s got NHL years left in him. He can still play, no question.”
Jagr has 11 goals and 5 assists in 19 games played for Omsk Avangard of the KHL.
Rangers, Canucks in on Forsberg
The New York Rangers are in the market for a top-2 line center and look for Rangers GM Glen Sather to make a play for Petr Forsberg. Sather told the New York Post yesterday, “Yes, we have interest in Forsberg. From the reports we’ve been getting, the foot is much better than it was a year ago.”
The Globe and Mail reports Canucks GM Mike Gillis has confirmed that the Canucks are interested in the services of Forsberg. Colorado, Washington and Philadelphia have also expressed some interest.
Chelios highly sought?
The Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and Chicago Blackhawks are among 5-6 teams exploring the idea of signing 47 year old defenseman Chris Chelios. Chelios is currently playing for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
