Insider Only Gregory Polanco tearing up Triple-A pitching

The Pittsburgh Pirates (6-6) are in the midst of a three game losing streak and through 12 games the team, as expected, has major holes at the No. 2 and No. 5 spots in the lineup, in addition to a shortstop problem.
There’s no question the Pirates have a great farm system but for a team whose window is “now” with this current core as the likelihood of Pedro Alvarez being around past 2015 is unlikely, the fan base to no surprise is already getting antsy as the Pirates don’t have the best 25 on the roster right now.

The million dollar question is whether management has it in them to call up Gregory Polanco before Memorial Day and not wait until mid-June which is the current plan to avoid his arbitration clock starting.
Scouts cannot stop buzzing about Polanco who is hitting .465 with 2 home runs and 11 RBIs. Polanco was just named International League Batter of the week (April 7 – 13), hitting .500 (14-28) with 7 RBIs. Here’s the worrisome part. Waiting until mid to late June could mean two to three less wins, and at end of day that could mean missing the playoffs.
