brydIn need of upgrading their offense, the Pirates today acquired right fielder Marlon Byrd and catcher John Buck from the New York Mets, in exchange for infielder Dilson Herrera and a player to be named later. For the Pirates, the trade is being widely praised by analysts and fans as it should be, but will the player to be named later change that tune? It shouldn’t but it probably will among some.

It’s a mystery on who the PTBNL will be, but GM Neal Huntington minutes ago said the Mets will be getting a pretty good prospect.
“New York’s going to get a pretty good second piece,” Huntington said. What does Huntington mean by a pretty good piece? Most likely another mid-level type prospect or a young roster player on the 40-man.
Herrera was rated by many scouting services in the No. 10 – No. 15 range in the Pirates system. Herrera is a good prospect but he was expendable in the Pirates system.
