Mets 7 – Pirates 2

Win: M. Harvey (4-3, 4.95 ERA)
Loss: T. Glasnow (2-4, 6.95 ERA)

For a short while Sunday night, it looked like a pitcher duel may happen between Matt Harvey and Tyler Glasnow.

Harvey did his part, flashing a slider the Pirates couldn’t touch, in allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run over six innings.

Glasnow had another uneven game.

In throwing three shutout innings to open the game, Glasnow allowed 1 hit and 0 runs on 46 pitches through three.

1st Inning:
Granderson – swinging strikeout
Reyes – swinging strikeout
Bruce – double
Walker – groundout

2nd Inning:
Duda – groundout
Cabrera – groundout
d’Arnaud – ground

3rd inning:
Lagares – groundout
Harvey – groundout
Granderson – groundout

Glasnow, though, would end up getting tagged for 7 hits and 5 earned runs in his final two innings of work.

Where the Mets got to Glasnow was when he was in the stretch. The Mets were 5-10 with 3 doubles and 5 runs scored when Glasnow was pitching from the stretch with all of the damage coming in the 4th and 5th innings.

Glasnow’s final stat line: 5 IP, 8 Hits, 5 Earned Runs, 3 K’s, 0 BB’s.

Clint Hurdle’s take on Glasnow

“The first three innings he was in attack mode. Changeup, curveball played. Fastball, two-seam fastball had life. He has nine ground-ball outs, and it seems like he tries to add a bit at times. It hasn’t been every outing, but these are the outings that it happens. The changeup is not quite as sharp. It’s left up, Cabrera hit one. Curveball not quite as deep of tilt and a couple of those got hit. Fastball….pitches just started to elevate.”
