The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed center Jay McClement to a Professional Tryout Contract, the Penguins announced Friday night.
McClement, 34, spent the last three seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes. Averaging 11:22 of ice time, McClement had 5 goals and 3 assists in 65 games for the Hurricanes last season.
McClement has not topped more than 11 points in a season since 14/15 but excels in the faceoff circle, winning 53% of faceoffs over the last three seasons and is a strong penalty killer.
I wonder if he will be a player Simply Dusty “roots” for? He roots for players not the team. That was up for dumbest post of the year on here.
Jaydogg. Three-peat. Write it down.
Noted PK and faceoff skills, but–if he makes it–it means some kid will sit.
Such as? Who do we have up the middle who is legit ready? I mean it’s only a PTO so if someone shows up to camp and surprises then we walk away however if the kids show they need more seasoning he’d be a low cost option to at least be slightly better in the depth lines than we currently have.
Dude is slow as fucck. I can’t see him making the roster.
I won’t argue that but the team has a legit hole down the middle and if bringing in this guy on a PTO means we have someone who can play the NHL game able to plug a hole somewhat, even if its only till December if one of the kids emerge, than so be it. It’s not a permanent fix by any means and it’s not ideal but it’s what they are left with based on the inability to move on a C right now. Lot of time left before it matter though
C4 I guess
