Let’s pump the brakes on all that Pekka Rinne Conn Smythe Trophy talk in recent days.

The Penguins smoked Rinne in the first period of Game 5, scoring twice on their first four shots of the game with goals from Justin Schultz and Bryan Rust.

Evgeni Malkin would then beat Rinne glove side from the left circle with 10 seconds remaining as the Penguins went to the intermission up 3-0.

Rinne would not come out for the second period after allowing 3 goals on 9 shots.

With Rinne benched, Pittsburgh has kept flooding the net with second period goals from Conor Sheary and Phil Kessel.

Pittsburgh leads 5-0 at the mid-way mark of the period.
