The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Penguins 7-2 on Wednesday night at the Consol Energy Center. Daniel Sprong (2) and Beau Bennett (3) were the Penguins lone goal scorers.

Detroit opened up a 5-0 lead by the 11:46 mark in the second period and cruised to the win.

Pittsburgh outshot Detroit 38-22 in the loss. Jeff Zatkoff made 15 saves on 22 shots in the loss.

Sidney Crosby was held scoreless for the first time this preseason.
