Phil Kessel was not selected to Team USA’s World Cup roster on Friday. Considered a long shot to make the team prior to the playoffs, Kessel’s strong playoff run still did not change Team USA’s stance on Kessel as the philosophy with John Tortorella behind the bench has been to add Ryan Callahan types.

Kris Letang was also not selected for Team Canada.
