Newly acquired minor league forward Matthias Plachta has put up disappointing numbers in his first season in North America with 7 points in 46 games (Springfield AHL). The Penguins when tracking Plachta overseas in the past had favorable reports on Plachta.

“He’s a big, skilled winger,” a Penguins scout tells Inside Pittsburgh Sports. “Held his own in the World Championships [in 2015]. Plachta had 2 goals in seven games in the 2015 WC’s.

He will report to Wilkes Barre/Scranton.
