Jaromir Jagr does not have a no trade clause but there is enough of a respect factor between the Devils and Jagr where New Jersey is expected to accommodate the wishes of Jagr and his agent Peter Svoboda for Jagr to be dealt to an Eastern Conference team, were the Devils to trade him.
Svoboda met with Devils GM Lou Lamoriello last week and informed Lamoriello that Jagr wants to remain in the Eastern Conference.
While the feeling around the league is Jagr could help somebody, it remains a mystery on who has or could have interest as the Devils have yet to start engaging in trade talks with interested teams. Jagr is showing signs of slowing down which is causing rival GM’s to pause but there’s also a sense he could be nabbed for as low as a conditional 4th or 5th round pick.
The Islanders, Panthers are among some teams believed to be looking at Jagr, while Jagr has long desired to play for the Montreal Canadiens.
Three of Jagr’s many former teams, Penguins, Bruins and Capitals are in the market for a scoring depth winger. Pittsburgh is currently looking at more rugged wingers at this point.
Bob McKenzie on Jagr last night while appearing on NBCSN during the intermission of the Penguins – Red Wings game: “He [Jaromir Jagr] wants to relocate. He wants a chance to play in the post-season.”
