Events: Sept. 6 National Anthem Contest; Sept. 21-23 includes Rise Against Hunger Meal Packaging Event, Gala at the Cal U Convocation Center, 5K Race & Parade in North Belle Vernon and Fun Fair at Rostraver Ice Garden:

WHAT: To celebrate Belle Vernon’s Kraft Hockeyville™ USA 2017 win as the country’s most passionate hockey community, the Local Organizing Committee is hosting several events leading up to the NHL® Pre-Season Game between the St. Louis Blues® and the Pittsburgh Penguins® on Sunday, Sept. 24 that is scheduled to air live on NBCSN at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Wednesday, Sept.6
The National Anthem Singing Contest has begun for an opportunity to perform the national anthem at the Sept. 24 Kraft Hockeyville USA NHL Pre-Season Game! Interested singers must be regional residents between the ages of 12 and 25 and submit an entry form and song video by Sunday, Aug. 20 at 11:59 PM ET at surveymonkey.com/r/Hockeyville2017Anthem

The top 10 will be announced on Facebook on Sunday, Aug.27. They will advance to the finals at the Hard Rock Café (Station Square, Pittsburgh) on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 7:00 PM ET. Celebrity judges, will be on hand to determine the winner. Contest is subject to complete Official Rules and information available at moniceproject.org and our Facebook page RostraverHockeyville.


Thursday, Sept. 21
The celebration continues with the Rise Against Hunger meal packaging event at the Convocation Center on the campus of California University of PA. Students from 12 local school districts and Cal U will donate their time to pack meals in support of the mission of Rise Against Hunger and Kraft Heinz to eliminate global hunger. Rise Against Hunger delivers food and life-saving aid to the world’s most vulnerable populations, and is the signature philanthropic partner of Kraft Heinz.


Friday, Sept. 22
The Local Organizing Committee will host a Gala at the Cal U Convocation Center to benefit the Mon Ice Project. The casino-themed event will feature food stations, live and silent auctions, gaming tables, and much more! Mon Ice Project is a newly formed nonprofit organization geared towards supporting hockey initiatives such as local learn-to-skate and learn-to-play programs, as well as scholarship opportunities. The Gala will feature auction items including hockey memorabilia and donations from Kraft Heinz and Southwest Pennsylvania local area. Saturday, Sept. 23
The day will start with a 5K through North Belle Vernon followed by a parade. The parade will feature the Planters’ NUTmobile and the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, Kraft Hockeyville Trophy alongside local participants and surprise guests!

The Local Organizing Committee has been working diligently to create a schedule of activities to celebrate Belle Vernon’s Kraft Hockeyville USA 2017 title! More events and details will be released as information becomes available.
