The National Hockey League announced today that Penguins defenseman Kris Letang is one of three finalists for the Norris Trophy, which is awarded to the National Hockey League’s top defensemen throughout the season.
The other two finalists are Montreal’s PK Subban and Minnesota’s Ryan Suter. Suter has been considered a slight favorite to win the award.
Letang has been nominated for the first time in his career. Letang was tied with Subban for the NHL lead among defenseman in points with 38 but played in seven fewer games than Subban. Letang’s 1.09 PPG, 33 assists and 25 even-strength points were tops among NHL blueliners.
