Defenseman Nate Guenin will make his season debut tonight against the Anaheim Ducks as the Penguins recalled Guenin this morning from Wilkes Barre/Scranton, the Penguins American Hockey League affiliate.
Guenin is expected to replace defenseman Alex Goligoski in the lineup. Goligoski was injured near the end of Saturday’s game and his status for tonight’s game is up in the air.
In his first 15 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this year, Guenin has posted a plus-1 rating to go with his 22 penalty minutes.
Guenin outplayed Deryk Engelland and Ben Lovejoy in training camp for the No.7 defenseman spot prior to the Penguins signing Martin Skoula.
Guenin though has not played well in Wilkes Barre, which is why Lovejoy and Engelland have been called up before him.
More to come after the Penguins morning skate.
