QUICK HITTERS

— It was the Dee Gordon show. Gordon who leads the Majors with 156 hits, beat out two infield hits, tied a career high with four stolen bases and scored twice in leading the Marlins to a 5-2 win over the Pirates.

— A three-run sixth for the Marlins against Charlie Morton sunk the Pirates. A bunt single by Gordon started things off in the sixth. “He’s a threat,” Pirates starter Charlie Morton said, via the Associated Press. “When he puts the ball in play, the chances are he’s going to get on base. It’s almost as if you need to strike him out.”

Francisco Cervelli was hobbling near the end of the game. Cervelli took a foul ball off his foot then twisted his foot when going back to second base in the ninth inning

— The Cardinals (79-45) and Cubs (72-51) are each headed to wins tonight.
