Cardinals and Giants interested in Charlie Batch?
If the Steelers decide to open up the season with two quarterbacks and release Charlie Batch, it is not a certainty that Batch will be just one phone call away if there is an injury to Leftwich or Dixon.
Those in Batch’s camp tell me the veteran QB would prefer a trade or release if the opportunity is there to land with a team for the rest of the year.

The Steelers will have to cut down their roster to 53 by Saturday. The team is wavering whether to carry two quarterbacks or three. There’s been a strong sense they were leaning towards keeping just two quarterbacks.
Either way Batch will be the odd man out when Roethlisberger returns.
Batch who signed a two year deal in March has been frustrated by not getting a shot at the No. 1 job. There’s some thought around the league that Batch should have been in the mix but I’m told the veteran QB is even more frustrated by not being in the discussion for the No. 2 job behind Byron Leftwich.
Batch was the Steelers No. 2 quarterback for most of the 2009 season until getting injury against Kansas City. He beat Dennis Dixon out of camp to keep the job.
Those in sidethe industry believe there’s a strong chance Batch will end up in Arizona if he is released this weekend. The Steelers have also received a trade inquiry from the New York Giants who are looking for a veteran quarterback.
