The Steelers running back depth chart currently has Willie Parker – Rashard Mendenhall – Mewelde Moore on it but Mike Tomlin has made no secret of wanting to have four legitimate running backs on his roster. Case in point, in August the Steelers made a strong attempt to sign Kevin Jones who ended up signing with the Chicago Bears as the Steelers & Bears were his final two teams.
SI.COM’s Peter King reports he would not be surprised if the Steelers look into Taylor. King writes, “The Steelers have a very good insurance policy in Mewelde Moore behind Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall, but Mike Tomlin loves the running game, and he loves productive veterans.”
Taylor, 33, rushed for 556 yards and one touchdown last season. This is something we will be keeping a close eye on throughout free agency but how interested would Taylor be in battling Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall for playing time?
