The Pittsburgh Steelers and Don Henderson, the agent for Jeff Reed met last week in attempt to move forward on a new multi-year deal but the two sides remain far apart when it comes to compensation.
The two sides have exchanged offers with the Steelers offering a multi-year deal in the low-to-mid $2 million range.
Reed is hopeful for a new deal but is seeking a specific amount of money.
“I want it to happen — they want it to happen — but I’m not just going to sign anything,” Reed told the Tribune-Review.
“I feel like I’m a pretty valuable kicker to any team,” Reed said, “and my heart’s set on something specific that I think I’m worth and I won’t deviate much from it.”
Word out of Reeds camp is that the Steelers place kicker is eyeing a four year deal worth more than $3 million.
It is believed the Steelers and Reed are $3-to-$4 million apart in the total worth of the contract.
