Heyward Bey FORMER 1ST ROUNDER IN TOWN TODAY

Former Oakland Raiders first round pick (7th overall, 2009) WR Darrius Heyward-Bey is at the Steelers Soutside Facility today meeting with Steelers officials.
Heyward-Bey coming off a disappointing 2013 season with the Colts where had just 29 receptions for 309 yards and 1 touchdown, is likely in line to only land contract for the veteran minimum from interested teams.
That has the Steelers who are bargain shopping this off-season, at least intrigued enough to check him out, mostly because he has size and can run.
Heyward-Bey made 11 starts for the Colts in 2013 but fell out of their plans late in the season as he didn’t play in the final three regular season games and two playoff games. 29 catches on 62 targets when Andrew Luck is throwing the football surely raises a red flag. He also had 9 drops.
Heyward-Bey’s best season came in 2011 with the Raiders when he had 64 receptions – 985 yards and 4 touchdowns.
One source says Todd Haley see’s some ability in Heyward-Bey who has excellent speed. Haley coached against Heyward-Bey twice a year as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs from 2009-2011.
The Steelers depth chart at wide receiver right now is Antonio Brown – Markus Wheaton – Lance Moore – Derek Moye.
