Penguins general manager Ray Shero is optimistic that the hand injury to top prospect Eric Tangrandi will not have any long-term effects, reports Dave Molinari but we’re told others aren’t as optimistic.
In Game 5 of the OHL playoffs, Tangradi was hurt in a collision with Brampton goalie Thomas McCollum.
There is speculation out of Canada that the injury to Tangradi could have lasting issues.
This goes with what I was told early Saturday afternoon,

from a source close to the Penguins who mentions it’s being speculated that the injury to Tangradi could be a career threatening compound fracture to his hand that will take a lot of rehab to get right and could bother Tangradi during his entire playing career.
All signs point towards Tangradi having surgery.
