Cross-state rivals will meet in the first round
The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers will meet in the first round of the playoffs, following Pittsburgh’s 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night.
Which team has home-ice in the first round is still up in the air. The Flyers have one game remaining and host the New York Rangers Sunday afternoon.
A win or OT loss gives the Flyers the 4th seed in the East and home-ice for the first round.
A Flyers loss gives the Penguins home-ice, making their turnaround since the coaching change even more impressive.
The Rangers have locked up the #7 seed in the East after the Canadiens loss to Pittsburgh.
