• Dustin Jeffrey’s tenure with the Penguins is over. Jeffrey who was placed on waivers over the weekend, was claimed by the Dallas Stars Sunday afternoon. The Penguins tried to move him for the past couple weeks and really missed the chance to move Jeffrey at last years draft when the Penguins were offered a fifth round pick for Jeffrey, an NHL source said over the summer. For Jeffrey the writing has been on the wall that he wasn’t a fit since around last February.
  • The Penguins have made another callup at the forward position, recalling Brian Gibbons (5-foot-8, 170-pound) from Wilkes Barre/Scranton, the team announced. Gibbons a smallish skilled player, is having a breakout season with 7 goals, 15 assists and 22 points in 15 games. Gibbons has a team-leading +13 on the season. In 2012-2013, Gibbons played in 70 games for Wilkes Barre, totaling eight goals, 22 assists and 34 penalty minutes. Not sure where a smallish/skilled player like Gibbons fits but the Penguins like to reward fringe players playing well with callups for the sake of experience. The Penguins take the ice at 10:30 a.m. for today’s morning skate.
