Pittsburgh Penguins top prospect Eric Tangrandi under went an MRI in Philadelphia on Monday to reveal the severity of a hand injury he suffered last week.
The Penguins are expected to receive the results of the MRI by this afternoon and the MRI is likely mapping out what needs to be done in surgery as preliminary examinations showed
that Tangradi suffered a severe compound fracture that could have lasting issues.
The Penguins are hoping for positive results but sources told me over the weekend that the team expects Tangradi to under-go surgery based on information they were told prior to the MRI.
Will update when I hear more. If Tangradi has surgery, the Penguins won’t make an announcement until after the surgery is performed.
Tangradi, 20, is projected to begin the 2009-2010 season with Penguins AHL affiliate, the WBS Penguins
