Asham to be re-evaluated on Saturday
Winger Arron Asham who is expected to be a focal point on the Penguins third line this season, suffered an upper body injury in the first period of the Penguins 5-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.
As of late Friday night the extent of the injury was unknown. Asham is scheduled to be evaluated by team doctors on Saturday.
If the injury lingers into the regular season opener, a spot will open for a prospect in the mix to lock down and also likely solidify….

Tyler Kennedy’s spot on the team. Kennedy who is among 13 forwards on a one-way contract, is in a battle for one of the final forward spots. He was a minus-2 with 0 shots on goal against Chicago.
Game Notes
*Marc Andre Fleury made 14 saves on 16 shots in 40 minutes of work. Fleury was replaced in the third period by Brad Thiessen. Fleury is expected to start the Penguins preseason finale on Sunday.
*Alex Goligoski had a goal and an assist in the loss.
*Tyler Kennedy, Mark Letestu and Kris Letestu were all a minus-2.
*Sidney Crosby sat out the game due to a sore hip.
*The Penguins immediately traveled to Detroit following the game. The team is scheduled to practice tomorrow at 2:30 p.m and will skate at Joe Louis Arena.
