The Pittsburgh Penguins have been eliminated from the playoffs, losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
Sean Bergenheim scored the only goal of the game at 5:41 of the second period and Dwayne Roloson made 36 saves, leading the Lightning to a third straight win and series victory.
The Penguins played with a strong sense of urgency but were unable to beat Roloson who improved to 6-0 when facing elimination.
The Penguins were 0-for-5 on the power play and finished the game with a power play for the final 93 seconds of the game but the Penguins were unable to force overtime.
Pittsburgh fell to 9-2 all-time when holding a 3-1 series lead. The last time the Penguins lost a series when holding a 3-1 series was in 1975.
The Lightning will face the Washington Capitals in the second round.
