The Pirates, as expected, have declined the options on pitcher Paul Maholm, catchers Chris Snyder, Ryan Doumit.
Maholm and the Pirates both expect to part ways and there’s not much optimism about the two sides striking a deal in free agency.
The same goes for Chris Snyder and Ryan Doumit, although the Pirates will monitor Doumit’s market in free agency. Doumit though has little interest in resigning with Pittsburgh
The team also declined the option on shortstop Ronny Cedeno who was due $3 million.
