lambo PIRATES CUT ANDREW LAMBO
It’s been no secret that the Pittsburgh Pirates have a first base problem and nothing in spring training changed that opinion.
The Pirates went into spring training with the intentions of Andrew Lambo being a platoon first baseman with Gaby Sanchez and crossing their fingers that they can get by with those two, but Lambo had a brutal camp continuing doubts that he can’t hit Major League pitching and the Pirates today cut Lambo, among 10 others, including Jared Hughes, Chris Dickerson, Daniel Schlereth, and Jeff Decker.
Lambo was 4-for-42 in spring training and was beat out by Travid Ishikawa who is hitting .333/.467/.708 in 24 at-bats.
The Pirates plan to add Ishikawa to their 40-man roster and go into the season with Sanchez and Ishikawa.
