The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed 2nd round pick Stetson Allie and 15th round pick Drew Maggi. Allie’s deal was finalized early this afternoon, while an agreement with Maggi was reached days ago.

The Pirates spent big to sign both players. Allie will receive a signing bonus in the range of $2.25 million and Maggi received a signing bonus believed to be just north of $610,000, according to a report in Arizona. However, that figure has not been confirmed yet.
Updated: Maggi’s signing bonus is worth $468,000.
Allie, a hard throwing right hander from St. Ed’s was the 8th rated draft prospect by Baseball America.
As a draft eligible sophomore Maggi was regarded as a difficult sign and just weeks ago was believed to be learning towards returning to school.
The 6-foot-1, 180 pound shortstop batted .326 with 5 home runs and 41 RBI’s for Arizona State in 2010. Maggi is an exceptional base runner who stole 36 bases in 2010 and 21 bases in his freshman year.
Maggi has versatility throughout the infield, playing second base and batting leadoff for Team USA this summer.
The Pirates have now signed a total of 25 players from this year’s draft.
