The Pittsburgh Pirates have stood pat as the non-waiver trade deadline has expired. The Pirates were in heavy discussions with the Chicago Cubs about David DeJesus in the final hours leading up to the 4:00 p.m. non-waiver deadline but the Pirates did not meet the Cubs demands for DeJesus or Nate Schierholtz who the Cubs pulled back in trade talks early today.
Other Pirates targets, Alex Rios and Marlon Byrd were not traded.
SP Bud Norris was traded to Baltimore.
Just because the Pirates didn’t make a trade today, doesn’t mean they are done as the waiver deadline is August 31st. It won’t be a surprise if the Pirates circle back to the Cubs about DeJesus at somepoint.
