Pittsburgh covets 2011 All-Star Game; Expected to make bid for 2013 Game

Sources tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports, the Pittsburgh Penguins covet the 2011 NHL All-Star Game, if the Phoenix Coyotes were to relocate.
The team has also notified the NHL of their desire to host the 2013 Game, if the 2011 Game doesn’t open up.
Pittsburgh will open the Consol Energy Center in the fall of 2010 and have not hosted the NHL All-Star game since 1990.
If the Phoenix Coyotes were to relocate, Pittsburgh would make a bid immediately for the 2011 Game.
Other Franchises vying for the 2013 Game are the Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues.
The Blues have already notified the league of their interest to host the 2011 game, if the Coyotes relocate.
Currently the Phoenix Coyotes are scheduled to host the 2011 All-Star Game with Ottawa expected to host the 2012 All-Star Game.
Due to the NHL’s participation in the 2010 Olympics, the NHL will not have an All-Star Game for the 2009/2010 season.
