Steelers safety Troy Polamalu was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. This marks the first time Polamalu has won the award this season and the fifth time he has won such honors in his career.
Polamalu had two tackles and three pass breakups against the Browns in Week 17. He added three pass breakups and his second interception of the season. Polamalu also recorded one of his highlight-reel quarterback tackles for a loss as he burst through the line of scrimmage and took down Cleveland quarterback Seneca Wallace as soon as the ball was snapped.
Polamalu now has 29 career interceptions, passing Steelers’ great Jack Lambert for the ninth-most in team history.
