Notes from Today’s Skate
SOUTHPOINTE — The Penguins went through about a 45 minute skate today at Southpointe. The Lightning are scheduled to skate at 2:30 p.m. today.
Forward Chris Kunitz coming off his one game suspension was back on the ice in his regular spot alongside Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy on the Penguins top line.
Dan Bylsma after practice said that who comes out of the lineup will be a game time decision tomorrow but all indications are Eric Tangradi is coming out and Chris Conner stays in.
Tangradi spent the entire practice as the odd-man out skating on the 5th line with Matt Cooke and Eric Godard.
Tangradi also didn’t see any power play time during 5-on-4 situations.
The Penguins power play units were as followed:
1st unit: Staal – Neal – Kovalev
Michalek – Letang
2nd unit: Kennedy – Letestu – Kunitz
Martin – Niskanen
Also, don’t look for any changes on the blueline tomorrow. Matt Niskanen is fully expected to stay in the lineup as the No. 6 defenseman.
Sidney Crosby and Mike Comrie did not skate this morning.
It was the second straight day Crosby didn’t skate. He also didn’t skate before practice with Matt Cooke and Nick Johnson.
Crosby was in street clothes going through a scheduled off-ice workout.
Evgeni Malkin was also around the facility today going through his scheduled physical therapy with Mark Mortland. He continues to progress very well.
