He’s really not that good but I understand why he wants to cash in
He’s actually pretty good.
small sample size
Kid knows how to put the puck away period. While I can admit he doesnt always look pretty doing it the bottom line is he has the hands and tenacity to get the job done as well as the speed to play the game the way this team wants it to be played. People that say this are also bitching about Kessel for only hitting a mark that less than 20 did this year. I think it is expectations vs reality. If everyone could build the team on expectation we would be 100MM over the cap and go 82 and… Read more »
But…. but… sheary is a potential 30 goal scorer guy he has to be paid 4+ millions. Right zeroTool
The pens know the worth their money.
Not only the potential – he was on pace to do it at 24 years old after only a half season in the league.
The fact that I discussed the money just below this makes you look like a bigger ass than normal here. Kid deserves a raise, but I am of the ilk that he also isn’t a 4 million dollar guy yet. Are you capable of saying anything without building strawman arguments? This is rhetorical BTW…. on that note why are you discussing this when you still have to address the massive gaff you made yesterday about teams operating in the red. Shut the fuckk up here and stop avoiding the comment moron
Solid 60-65 regular season game player, mehhh in the playoffs. 4 mill plus might be too much at this juncture.
He was decent last years playoffs. He also came about when it mattered this year. Still hes asking for too much with the kind of questions that arose during his slump.
It’s typical negotiation strategy – he asks for $4.35. They say 2.5 – he gets a 3.25M contract, which is about where he belongs.
Yikes… I like this kid a lot but he’s asking for a lot a little too soon. While I stand by what I have said on what he brings to the team I would prefer a bridge deal at a fair amount. His agent is a fucken cuntt… much like sammich
trade him for a 3rd line center or make him part of a bigger deal. 2.8 max on a 1 year deal.
Does this have anything to with his size?
If getting hurt often and getting knocked of the puck often has to do with his size. Then yes. He’s not Tyler Johnson yet. If he is in another year or two pay him 5 until then 2.5-3. Show me deal.
We’re solid at winger and you’d think he would be viewed favorably due to his age, productivity and speed. If not straight up, as part of a package.
Odd he gets knocked off the puck so often, that he was still on pace to score 30 goals.
king – did the pens mention what numbers Kulikov and Colborne took? i might have missed it.
LMAO 2016 – 2017
Conor Sheary: 61 games, 23 goals, 53 points and + 24
Tyler Johnson: 66 games, 19 goals, 45 points and – 5
Now this is where people holler “but one played with Crosby”… yes and a bit of a revolving door on the other wing. Johnson played a ton of 5v5 with Palat who had 52 points himself and another guy you may have heard of… Nikita Kucherov was only 4 points back of Crosby this year!
While I can agree I wanna see a bridge closer to 3 than 4 the supporting argument is bunk
look beyond 1 year when determining whether guys are erqual
What do you do if he’s only played 1 year in the league?
I say the 26 year old with 4 years experience is better than the 25 year old with 1 year experience.
Johnson hit 77 points his second year but hasnt come close since… I guess Cheechoo really was a 50 goal man and we were just being hard on him. Or Burrows was truly a regular 30 goal 60 point plus guy that was held back by the Canucks? I think Johnson is a decent hockey player, I also think he is somewhat the model for what to expect from Sheary. They play a similar style, and had a similar path to the NHL. Sheary was badly outpacing Johnson this year and had he played all 82 games would have hit… Read more »
Would tampa or any other NHL gm take a Conner Sheary for Tyler Johnson trade straigt up?
Depending on the situation? Sure. You just saw essentially the same thing happen with the Eberle / Strome deal.
Really? Statistical analysis is a no no but a trade speculation is a better option? Johnson is a centre, 9x out of 10 they carry more value simply because of the type of game they play overall. That noted if the statistical output for Sheary continues to develop as it has then you could easily make the case… depending on the organizational need and cap room from either team.
I’d love to see a comparison of even strength scoring.
Tyler Johnson Even/60: 0.8 goals, 1.0 assists, 0.3 A1, 1.8 pts, 6.1 shots, 55 CF
Conor Sheary Even/60: 1.5 goals, 1.9 assists, 0.8 A1, 3.3 points, 9.4 shots, 64.7 CF
This…right here…is what makes Sheary so valuable. The guy finds a way to get it done with next to zero power play time. It’s unheard of in today’s NHL.
That’s asinine. Is he better than Auston Mathews too? Because he has 4 years experience? And Laine of course. What the fuckk kind of argument are you making? Age and experience?!
T. Johnson >> McDavid because 4 years > 2
Soooo… Tyler Johnson was better a few years ago. Has regressed some since… So I should include how well he played a few years ago even if that is not achievable for him again? End of the day we have a limited body of work on Sheary, this was his 1st “full season” and therefore I am comparing it to what the comparison player did in the only year I could
The “but he played with Crosby!” argument only carries water if we had just lost Crosby. Because if he put up 53 points in 61 games with Crosby, I’d argue “sweet! because we have Crosby!”
Tk 2.0
You’re a fucken idiot, besides, like I said before… for about 3 or 4 years TK was a very good depth player. It was idiots like you that was expecting him to score on every shot
Maybe we can get Despres back…
To the Hurricanes for Staal.
