Thatcher is on injured reserve so forget that shouldn’t trade for a goalie whop can’t play. Jonas Korpasalo is a much better option a pending UFA at $1.3.. He is a solid goalie, only 27, can step in and be a number one easily, and you can count on him in a playoff series unlike Jarry and De Smith.
If we don’t resign Jarry he easily steps in to the number one spot next year and cheaper. He could be resigned at $2.5 $ 3million and Jarry will command $5 million.
I agree I think Thatcher Demko is the better option…we still need a 3rd line center and another defenseman.
Unload Jeff Carter if possible/along with Brian Dumoulin…
I think theyll have a hard time unloading anyone this year considering all the teams adding are pressed against the cap, although it’d be nice. I think their offseason should be centered around getting a GM that is actually looking to improve the team and not keep status quo, or officially start the rebuild. Go in some direction. At that point, find a way to rid yourself of Carter, Dumo and KK. There are other guys I would list (Petry and Rutta), but those three are a must. That’s 10mil in space and the cap should go up. Then sign… Read more »
100 % agree…I think someone will want either Joseph or Dumoulin. The King, Oilers, and other teams that need a dman…Dumoulin is playing better and Joseph is young we will see. I think Ty Smith is much better than Joseph
Tbj….What do you think of Adam Henrique? I think he is the perfect fit for the Penguins third line center. If Anaheim retains 50% which will end up being $2.9,he can be had. He is having a terrific season 17 goals, has 2 years left on his deal, which is the realistic window for this group providing they make a needle mover move as you said. He has lead New Jersey to the Stanley Cup finals. He is the modern day version pf Jordan Stahl and Nick Bonino but better offensively. Maybe we offer Teddy Blueger, Pierre Oliver Joseph, and… Read more »
I don’t mind the trade of they were contending, but I’m honestly kind of down on this team. I don’t want to trade any young players or picks for a rental. I would rather sell. Probably am unpopular opinion, but if they stumble going into the deadline, they’ll have a less than 50% shot at even making the playoffs. Even if they do, they’ll get either Boston or Carolina, where I’d give them next to no chance to win. I haven’t felt this way about the Pens since Sids Rookie year. Move Jarry and anyone who can fetch a good… Read more »
Please don’t give Jarry an extension, at least for anywhere near the 6m mark. He’ll be 28 in a couple months and has yet to prove he can stay healthy or do anything in the playoffs. I like the Demko idea. He will make less and not have the years Jarry will require, with a comparable ceiling. If things work out, extend him in 2025 or move him and go with one of their younger goalies if they pan out. the time frame fits. With how this team looks right now, there’s no sense in giving out anymore long-term bloated… Read more »
