Has the possibility of Pittsburgh making one last swing to sign Jake Guentzel been thrown out the window? As I reported Sunday morning teams that viewed this as a chance for weeks prior are no longer running on that assumption. The feeling around the league has moved to close to 100% Guentzel is getting moved in the coming days.

He went to Bryan Rust and told Bryan Rust that there not even going to ask him to waive no trade. He’s hurt but teams would take him. Guentzel is going to get moved here.”[/hide]

What I’m curious about is does teams get permission to speak to Guentzel,” said Friedman. “Reason I ask that is two things, #1 you get a better return if you trade for him, while I think it’s unlikely, I have wondered if teams that are out of the playoffs but wish to be in next year would ask for opportunity to talk to him. Don’t think that’s impossible.”[/hide]
Under the unlikely scenario where Pittsburgh for example allowed a 48 hour period for anyone to discuss an extension with Guentzel, that would open the door for a Seattle, Buffalo or even Chicago to possibly get in the mix. Seattle is a team that’s been highly linked to Guentzel as a free agent target and many around the league believe Chicago has Guentzel on their sights as an UFA too. [/hide]
