Latest Prospects Buzz
The Pittsburgh Penguins rookie tournament continues today. The games can be followed at pittsburghpenguins.com.
Here’s some feedback from one NHL evaluator on three notable Penguin prospects from the tournament:
On Daniel Sprong:
“He’s too good for that tournament,” the NHL source said. “When he gets open ice down the wing he can push defenders back with speed and you have to be on notice because of the puck skills. A lot to like in the To read this insider news, subscribe to get “Inside Access”!
As for the key question marks surrounding Sprong’s game that will dictate how soon he’ll be an NHL regular?
“[For me] how quick he gets to the NHL comes down to how he adapts without the puck. He doesn’t play a ‘lick To read this insider news, subscribe to get “Inside Access”!
On Teddy Blueger:
“He’s on the fast track [to the NHL],” the source said.
Two reasons why — “High hockey IQ and two-way play”
“Coaches love young guys they can trust [in their own end]. Teddy is that type of player…..Great instincts on the penalty kill. He could be Pittsburgh’s best penalty killer for years to come.”
As for the offensive upside?
“The [hide] vision he has is something else,” the source said. “Everything’s coming together for him and he’s in a great situation [to succeed].”[/hide]
On Zach Aston-Reese
“If he’s going to make it [NHL player], it’s going to be as a plugger,” the source said. “Zach has a toughness element [to his game] I like…..strong on the puck in the corners and will go to the dirty areas.”
The biggest question marks surrounding Aston Reese’s game……..
“He doesn’t [hide] skate well enough to play in the NHL [right now],” the source said. “Not enough pace to his game.” [/hide]

If it wasn’t for the cheated lottery Crosby to pens in doubt pens would’ve even won 1 cup since 09.
So Bitter …Sam the man..wow get over yourself….sour grapes man
the Crosby draft long over whats next you going to complain about the refs in the immaculate reception by Franco Harris in the Steelers..win over Oakland they wouldn’t win any Super bowls after that wow your bad dude.
Funny you mention cheating and you have a picture of Donald whiny ass bitch Trump lets talk his taxes and Russia now that is cheating…….
HAHAHAHAHA – Russia. Phenomenal, yogurt.
lolol “taxes and russia”… Have you paid attention at all to anything other than CNN or the View?
I don’t watch CNN or Fox or msnbc.. just know that Trump has never revealed his tax reports…He keeps threatening too…
Hey sam – if your aunt had balls, she’d be your uncle – if Montreal wasn’t allowed to keep every player it wanted for years, they wouldn’t have 5 cups, let alone 24
There it is, another bit of evidence he’s a fucken bandwagon “pens fan”! Team was dead last pretty much for three years leading up to the draft and was one of three with the best odds… you’re a fucken poser
Yeah because legit centers grow on trees. How did spoilers do had many good centers yet missing playoffs year after year
Lol, how the Habs gonna do next year? Gar bage!
Bryan Little (Winnepeg) might be a good fit. Salary hit 4.7M but he is a good offensive player (21 goals last year) with a FO% at 55%. He is also in the last year of his contract so maybe Winnipeg would take on some of the cap hit for the right deal. Sheary and Pouliot for Little and maybe they keep 1M salary. That would still leave around 2.5M – 3M in cap space to do something at the trade deadline. What a wicked game you play!
Chris…Brian Little is a good player like the way you think….I always liked Mathhew Perreault 27 from Winnipeg for the Penguins his salary cap hit is just slightly more than Olli Matta’s.salary…I think $4.25 million..
Olli Matta for Matthew Perreault and the grab a depth defense man from Vegas since they have a ton of d-Men..
Encouraging news on Aston-Reese.
