Here’s some feedback from one NHL evaluator on three notable Penguin prospects from the tournament:


On Daniel Sprong:

As for the key question marks surrounding Sprong’s game that will dictate how soon he’ll be an NHL regular?

On Teddy Blueger:

“He’s on the fast track [to the NHL],” the source said.

Two reasons why — “High hockey IQ and two-way play”

“Coaches love young guys they can trust [in their own end]. Teddy is that type of player…..Great instincts on the penalty kill. He could be Pittsburgh’s best penalty killer for years to come.”

As for the offensive upside?

“The [hide] vision he has is something else,” the source said. “Everything’s coming together for him and he’s in a great situation [to succeed].”[/hide]


On Zach Aston-Reese

“If he’s going to make it [NHL player], it’s going to be as a plugger,” the source said. “Zach has a toughness element [to his game] I like…..strong on the puck in the corners and will go to the dirty areas.”

The biggest question marks surrounding Aston Reese’s game……..

“He doesn’t [hide] skate well enough to play in the NHL [right now],” the source said. “Not enough pace to his game.” [/hide]
