The Pittsburgh Penguins again will cap sales of full season ticket equivalents at 15,000 for the 2011-12 season
The Penguins, who have sold out 210 straight home games, including every game for four straight seasons, began limiting season ticket sales in 2007-08 – in order to continue to expand their fan base, and make tickets available to fans who want to purchase individual game tickets and group tickets.
The addition of 300 seats in the off-season has increased seating capacity at CONSOL Energy Center to 18,387 for hockey. By capping full season equivalents at 15,000, the Penguins are able to sell group tickets and offer the popular Student Rush student ticket program while still making more than 2,000 tickets per game available on a single-game basis.
“We have renewed our season tickets at 99 percent, which shows the phenomenal support of our fans, and our season ticket waiting list has grown to more than 9,000 – but we still want to make sure that tickets are available for fans who want to purchase single games, as well as to groups, students and youth hockey organizations,” said David Morehouse, CEO and President of the Penguins. “We’re all looking forward to another exciting season of Penguins hockey at CONSOL Energy Center.
Individual game tickets will go on sale in September, on a date to be determined. Details of the American Eagle Outfitters Student Rush program for college and high school students also will be announced in September.
