University of Texas cornerback/safety Earl Thomas met with Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert last week prior to his pro-day and the Steelers will be bringing Thomas in for a visit this week.
The visit was originally scheduled weeks ago and Thomas will be in Pittsburgh later this week for an official visit.
Thomas is rising on the Steelers draft board is a target in the first round. Thomas is a ballhawk in the secondary and had 8 interceptions in 2009 for Texas.
His number 1 position though is safety but plenty of scouts fell he can make a smooth transition to cornerback. The Steelers are looking at him as a corner.
Meanwhile, the team has scheduled a private workout with Florida center Maurkice Pouncey for this week. The workout will be conducted by offensive line coach Sean Kugler and the Steelers have significant interest in Pouncey.
The Steelers will conduct visits Tuesday-Friday this week.
Among the other known visits this week include Oregon running back LaGarrette Blount and Idaho guard Mike Iupati who is believed to be one of the Steelers two top targets in the draft.
