Camp Tidbits

— After an off-day on Sunday, the Steelers had a walk through this morning and hit the practice field at 3:00 p.m. for their first game week preparations with the preseason kicking off on Friday.
— Veteran wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery met with the Steelers on Sunday and again this morning but he has departed camp and is now en route to other scheduled visits.
Prior to the visit, the Steelers had discussed scenarios and numbers with Cotchery’s agent. He did take a physical with the team this morning.
Players such as Hines Ward had kind words about Cotchery but there was no type of sales pitch from the players like we saw with the courting of Plaxico Burress.
— The extent of Limas Sweed’s sprained shoulder is still unclear. Even a grade 1 sprain could keep him limited for 1-to-2 weeks. That scenario could close the door on his career with the Steelers as he needs to perform in the pre-season. The Steelers continue to actively explore the market for a top-5 wide receiver.

Hines Ward passed his physical this morning and will take the practice field for the first time this afternoon. He started camp on the PUP list due to thumb surgery. Ward tore a ligament in his thumb in week 2 last season and played through it.
Maurkice Pouncey vows that he will play Friday night against Washington. He’s been nursing a minor ankle injury and expects to be on the practice field.
— Some good news on the injury front: The injuries to both Ramon Foster and Jonathan Scott are very minor. Scott might be limited this week in practice but that appears to be the extent of it.
Emmanuel Sanders received a positve report on his injured foot this past Saturday and is now walking around camp pretty well.
