The Pittsburgh Steelers have been engaged in preliminary talks with Jordan Woy the agent for veteran tackle Jonathan Scott.
Scott who started 11 games this past season is seeking a two year deal.
The Steelers reached out to Scott more than a week ago expressing interest in retaining Scott who could be the Steelers starting right tackle next season with Flozell Adams contemplating retirement and Willie Colon’s future in Pittsburgh very much in doubt.
I caught up with Willie’s Colon’s agent Joe Linta today who two weeks ago told me that the Steelers have never called about Willie.
With top Steelers officials Kevin Colbert and Omar Khan in Indianapolis as is Linta, it would only be normal for the two sides to discuss Willie’s future with the Steelers this week.
According to Linta that hasn’t happened at any point over the past year and no meetings are scheduled between the two sides at the combine.
“They have not called Willie or myself, ” Linta told Inside Pittsburgh Sports on Thursday afternoon.

The Steelers not even reaching out Colon’s camp is what’s been the surprising development since the season ended. This is a guy many members of the Steelers organization have regarded in the past as their top offensive lineman.
There is also no long-term player in the mix at the right tackle position for the Steelers. Flozell Adams will be 36 years old next season and Jonathan Scott is a capable backup but not viewed as a long-term starter.
New offensive line coach Sean Kugler maybe the one whose not as high on Colon as others were in the past.
I’m told by those close to Colon that he was told by the Steelers coaching staff in their walk-out meetings that he could play right guard next season if Flozell Adams or even Jonathan Scott return. That I’m told has irked agent Joe Linta tremendously.
It’s possible that the Steelers are just waiting until a new CBA is in place to deal with Colon, which is what some team sources are relaying to me. But, why has there been no contact, when there has been with inferior players?
