davis The Steelers are in the market for a buy-low No. 2 tight end to fill in for Heath Miller who the Steelers don’t expect to be fully healthy for start of the season. Tight ends have been have been cashing in through one day of free agency, but former Bears tight end Kellen Davis who was cut, according to Profootballtalk, certainly fits the bill of a player the Steelers are expected to target as a buy-low candidate and it wouldn’t be the first time that the Steelers targeted Davis.

The Steelers last off-season had strong interest in signing Davis, setting up a visit on the first day of free agency but Davis never took the visit as he resigned with Chicago agreeing to a 2 year deal on March 14, 2012.
The 27 year old had 19 receptions for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns last season. Davis in 2011 had 5 touchdowns. At 6-foot-7, 270-pounds, Davis has been regarded as a good all around blocker and while he’s been plagued by drops, he’s one of those players who’s often been regarded as not being used enough in the passing game.

Davis has deceptive athleticism and ran a 4.6 forty coming out of college.
The Steelers on Tuesday resigned David Johnson to provide depth and battle for a spot.
