The Pirates are listening to offers for Jason Bay and have turned down a offer from the New York Mets. People close to Bob Nutting believe he doesn’t want to trade any of the teams impact players until a new CEO is hired. Nutting would like for the new CEO and new General Manager decide if its time to move a player like Jason Bay for prospects.

The New York Mets will not trade any of their most highly regarded young players (Lastings Milledge, Carlos Gomez, Mike Pelfrey, Fernando Martinez) for a rent-a-player according to sources and multiple reports. They have had discussions with the White Sox about Jermaine Dye but are not offering anything that entices the White Sox. The Mets see Bay as a replacement for Moises Alou next season and beyond. With the Braves aquiring Texeria, the Mets may upped their offer to the Pirates but a source has told me it seems very unlikely. I see a trade with Mets going down in the off-season but anything can happen in the next 18 hours.
