POST-GAME BUZZ
— The difference in the game was goaltending. Frederik Andersen gave up four goals on 20 shots, including three very poor goals. At the other end Thomas Greiss was very strong in goal, now posting solid outings against the Blues and Ducks in his last two appearances. Greiss didn’t allow that back breaking soft goal that had plagued him prior to the St. Louis game, while Andersen gave a few of those up tonight. The Comeau goal, the Hornqvist bank shot and even the Malkin goal are shots that should have never went in.
Anaheim scored twice in the third period and outshot Pittsburgh 14-5 in the third, Greiss came up with several timely saves. His last two starts he’s playing like the goaltender the Penguins thought they were getting when they signed him.
— The Penguins managed just 14 shots 5 v 5 and scored 5 goals, all coming during 5 v 5 play, one being Sidney Crosby’s empty net goal.
Evgeni Malkin has moved into a tie for the NHL points lead with 67 points. He has 7 goals in his last seven games
Patric Hornqvist hit the 20 goal mark for the 5th time in his career.
Max Lapierre had 9 hits
— The Ducks were 0-3 on the power play and have not scored a power play goal at home since Feb 3.
