Wouldn’t mind swapping Perron to a contender that has spare defenseman this year. Someone may be willing to take a flyer on him and swap UFA forward for UFA dman. Then keep the 2nd round picks. I believe playoff games do not count towards Sprongs 9 games so we likely add him for the playoffs. Could be a valuable 3rd/4th liner during a playoff run that maintains your depth and allows you to move other guys into the lw spots.
Dupuis back tonight. Sprong back with the team, but will be a healthy scratch – which makes no sense. Sure doesn’t support Jay’s theory that he’ll be here for the year.

Thought Perron has looked good sakting, taking the body, looks like a guy starting to be a lot more physical. Pucks obviously not going in, but you cant have 4 kessels on the wing…. Kunitz is the only guy in top 6 I would be putting on the hot seat

i’d wait to see what we have with Fehr. I still think Perron will turn it on and being a solid top 6 winger for us this season when he hits his stride, if not, sell high on him and include Kuni when Fehr gets back saving space and allowing for a winger or top 4 defenseman. I’d prefer we keep Perron and go after a top 4 defenseman
I’m hoping for Perron hitting his stride too. I think some pressure issues are the same for him as they were for did, except his contract is up at seasons end

I find the idea of a top 6 forward alittle off the mark especially when you have pascal, fehr and bennett out of the line up that can potentially play in those spots. Give me a top 4 dman right now.
Pens need a D more than offense
Or we could see how Sprong plays on LW. He said he played some LW in juniors.
My personal opinion is that even considering moving Sprong to LW is insane at the point. The kid is already trying to learn the game at the NHL level and has plenty of holes in his game at his natural position now on top of they people want to throw in trying to learn a whole new position as well. Maybe they should give him a shot in the top 4 on defense while they are at it to see if he can fill that void as well.

I wonder if Pouliot’s performance in the preseason has management a little concerned about his long term future? I wonder if Ruth would consider possibly moving him before he get’s further exposed in the NHL? Probably not…
Don’t put it past gmjr. He traded our best forward prospect (at the time) for kessel. Maybe ownership soured on him? Truth be told unless a prospect plays lights out they’re first year and cements a spot (staal and maata), they likely won’t have a position on the team. Catch 22 for a win now team.
Also gmjr knows he only has one or two more shots with the pens to make a run at the cup. If that means trading for another big name I wouldn’t put it past him
