Neil Walker went 3-for-5 and was a triple short of hitting for the cycle in the Indians 9-6 win over the Toledo Mud Hens Sunday afternoon.
Walker hit a leadoff 1st inning homer off of Ruddy Lugo, for his first homer since August 29, 2009. Batting leadoff and playing third, Walker’s 3-for-5 day bumped his batting average up to .314 on the season.
In what maybe his most important professional season of his career, Walker has seen time at third base, second base, left field and right field this season as the Pirates are hopeful that he will develop into a utility player at the major league level.
Brandon Moss and Jonathan Van Every also homered for the Indians.
Top prospect Pedro Alvarez went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI’s but struckout three times in the game. Alvarez is batting .233 on the season.

Kevin Hart (4.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO) received a no decision for the Indians, striking out six in 4.1 innings of work.
