The Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets have agreed to a two player trade that will send Neil Walker to the New York Mets for SP Jon Niese.
Niese, 29, went 9-10 with a 4.13 ERA in 2015.

5th most hr’s among 2b, 5th in rbi’s, 12th in average, 10th in on base %. He clearly sucks and is only talked about here because he is from WPA. Nutting can clearly replace him.
Odd, Neil walker according to stats is the 9th best fielding second baseman as far as range factor and fielding % go and 8th in errors…but somehow Benny says he’s terrible?
You have to understand – if they had signed him to an extension, Benny would rave about what a solid player he is, and how innovative the organization is. He just pisses whichever way the wind is blowing. There’s no integrity.

Range factor calculates the number of plays a player had his hand in. The Pirates defensive shifts are more a product of Neil’s ranking than anything else. My guess is you thought it had something to do with his actual fielding range, which is practically non existent. Walker’s DWAR on the other hand is in the bottom 5 for qualified second basemen. He’s average, and his middle of the pack overall WAR proves as much.
What makes you think Harrison will be a good fielding 2nd baseman on a regular basis?

Rumored to be in on Davis, WOW! IF talks fall through, oh boy! If Pirates were rumored to be linked to Davis it would just be a PR stunt, but lets hand it to cubs and cards for having people link them to Davis. Yep, Walker is def one of the best HITTING 2b, also the worst FIELDING 2B, that would make him AVERAGE at 2B… oops I forgot to factor in his cell phone starting with 412 or 724, my bad, hes the best

A Cole, Liriano, Kazmir, Niese, Glasnow rotation should be a top 5-8 staff, depending on whether Cole takes another step forward, Liriano stays healthy and consistent, Kazmir repeats his performance, Niese gets Searages Special Splooge dumped all over him, and Glasnow lives up to the hype. A lot of IFs, but high probability IFs.

Walker was overrated. Average 2B, but he was from Pittsburgh so that made him amazing.

He was 12th in hitting last season (2B). He is definitely replaceable. Had he been from philadelphia, there wouldn’t be any backlash.

If you could turn Morton into Moreland and sign Kazmir, that’s not bad. I’m not crazy about Niese. But they do control him for a while. And Searage has done wonders. Though I don’t think that lasts forever.

He may be worth 3 years and 39 for Pittsburgh. We did something to get great production from him. But in Seattle he was below average and not a 39 million pitcher. Decent chance Toronto ends up with an avg number 5 at a high price.
This could be ok if we are making another move but the bigger concern is this guys price. He is not cheap for a 4/5. Would have preferred a salary dump for prospects and signed ufa. But If this is paired with other moves could be happy
