Week 4: Steelers 24 – Vikings 21 (F)

Steelers put on a show for 55 minutes: All week and even more so pregame was all this talk how the Steelers were going to get badly out-coached. The offensive wizard Kevin O’Connell was going to eat Mike Tomlin’s lunch and Brian Flores was going to have a field day against Arthur Smith and so. Instead, the Steelers put on a coaching clinch, albeit for 55 of 60 minutes. What happened in the final five minutes, though, is another story where the Steelers just can’t get out of their own way and get used to a number of games being more difficult than they should be…….

3-1 is 3-1: Not a good 3-1 but involved in some many 50-50 games, the Steelers have to feel great to be 3-1 at the four game mark……..

Aaron Rodgers continues to give optimism for 2025 Season: 18/22 for 200 yards with 1 Touchdown, Rodgers was even better than his numbers if the OC didn’t handcuff him late when the Steelers should have went for the kill. I don’t think he’s peaked yet this season.

Metcalf Explodes in 1st Half: 5 receptions for 125 yards with an 80-yard touchdown, this is what was expected when the Steelers threw $150 Million at Metcalf. Arthur Smith in the first half did a great job of finally moving Metcalf around. The need for a second dynamic pass catcher still isn’t going away anytime soon. This trying to do it by committee is going to catch up to them.

No Warren, No Problem: Kenneth Gainwell has a huge day on the ground in relief, rushing for 99 yards on 19 carries and 2 touchdowns. Gainwell also added 6 catches for 35 yards. Another promising sign was 3rd round pick Kaleb Johnson getting opportunities late to get some tough yards, including a 9 yard run……

Sack Barrage: Six Sacks on the day, including a breakout game Keeanu Benton (4 tackles, 1.5 Sacks, 3 QB hits). And How soon before we start calling it like it is that Nick Herbig might be the Steelers second best passing rusher?…….
